Damon system uses self ligating braces, unlike the traditional braces where ligatures are used. The Damon brackets have a special slide mechanism with a clip(door) which can be opened and closed to secure the wire. Whereas in  traditional braces elastics, rubber bands and metal ties are used to secure the arch wire which causes friction and pressure.

This results in slower tooth movement and not very comfortable.  Damon braces’ special slide mechanism and  superior quality copper NiTi shape memory wires allows teeth to be moved freely without any friction, precisely and quickly. Damon system uses light continuous force for tooth movement and hence is very comfortable. The braces do not stain and are much easier to clean and maintain. Damon braces are more patient specific with variable torque options.
